Hawgs Hold Rising Stars

Hags Hawgs Owner and General Manager Brian Hagerman addressed the media Tuesday morning predicting that his club would contend for the Iowa Farm League title, barring the same free agent mass exodus that occurred in 2006.

"Free agency killed us last year," Hagerman said. We lost nearly a third of our position players in free agency trades, not to mention the injuries that any team suffers during the season."

It's been three years since the Hawgs finished in the top three and six years since its last title. Conor Jackson and Solomon Torres are hoping to reverse the misfortune that has plagued the team recently.

Jackson and Torres both signed one-year contracts Tuesday morning. Jackson agreed to terms totaling $11, while Torres will play for the Hawgs at a price of $3. This will be Jackson's second season as the Hawgs corner infielder. Torres, who was acquired by the Hawgs in 2006 and led the team in holds, is expected to be the team's closer.
